The IGCSE is based on the British curriculum (GCSE) but adapted for a more internationally-focused student body. Assessments are done mainly by examination through the exam board of the school’s choice. The most well-known are Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson Edexcel, and Oxford AQA. The IGCSE allows for differing levels of ability by offering both Core and Extended curriculum papers in some subjects.
The International Baccalaureate Organization (known as the IB) offers four high-quality and challenging educational programs for a worldwide community of schools; the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP.
The four programs are all underpinned by a shared focus on international-mindedness and developing the attributes of the IB learner profile. Yet each program also has its own identity and developmentally appropriate elements, as shown in the following examples.
The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is an academic program accredited by College Board in USA. It enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. The AP Program develops college-level courses that high schools can choose to offer and corresponding AP Exams that are administered once a year. Each AP course concludes with an AP Exam. These assessments are designed by the same expert committee that developed the course. AP Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5 by college and university professors and experienced AP teachers. Many U.S. colleges offer credit for AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.
The AHSD is accredited by the American Educational Agency, AdvancEd, and the North Central Association- Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI) which is internationally recognized for its work with international schools.
BTECs are high-quality, career-focused qualifications grounded in the real world of work. This means BTEC learners develop and apply the knowledge, skills and behaviors that employers and universities are looking for. BTEC is not exams-based qualification, it depends on a number of assignments done by the candidate and assessed by the qualification assessor who teaches at the BTEC center.

The modular structure is taking the subject divided into units. Each unit has its own external exam, and the total mark of the subject is cashed-in when taking the required units. This structure is common with Pearson Edexcel.
The linear structure depends on taking a group of units for a specific component. In this structure, candidates sit for all the required units in the same examination session.
Both syllabuses cover the same skills; reading comprehension, listening, speaking, and writing. Moreover, both have the same number of components; 1 (Reading and Writing), 2 (Listening) and 3 (Speaking). Yet, the speaking is endorsed on 0510, which means that candidates should sit for and pass the component but the mark is not counted in the total. On the other hand, in 0511 the speaking component is counted.
Coordinated Science is equivalent to two subjects while Combined Science is equivalent to one subject only.
Cambridge Checkpoint is a series of structured and comprehensive exams in English, Mathematics and Science. Checkpoints are not a formal qualification with a certificate, although students get a Statement of Achievement.
The two Checkpoint assessments offered by Cambridge - Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Lower Secondary program help the students acquire knowledge and skills they need to excel at school, university and beyond.
Checkpoints are mandatory in Jordan and the students’ marks are counted in their academic reports.
The three examination boards are Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, and Oxford AQA.

The carry forward is an option take one component’s mark from the previous examination session. This option is for subjects with oral components; English 0510/0511/0500, in addition to practical components in the AS level such as, AS Chemistry, AS Physics and AS Biology which include the practical exam.
The exams are issued worldwide and should be release almost the same time to avoid any leak. To maintain the different time zones, variants of the same exam are issued.

Yes, candidate need to take three subjects from the O level subjects to fulfill the requirements of the Jordanian Equivalency. These subjects should be related to the BTEC specification they have chosen.
Both are research-based subjects where candidates are required to write a research paper of about 5000 words about a specific topic. The EPQ is offered by Oxford AQA and it is internally assessed but externally moderated. This project consists of the research paper and a presentation delivered by the candidate to a committee at the school.
The IPQ is offered by Cambridge and it is externally assessed. It consists of the research papers only.
Yes, students can transfer to other academic programs. Yet, ideally before Grade 9.
